Chris Dover
With his first full length record “It’s a Difficult World”, Chris Dover Musician has created an album that confidently weaves together Country songwriting in the veins of Van Zandt and Clark, Blues and English Folk.
From the first track “Billy’s Song” that bounces along with a banjo switching to the contemplative “It’s a Difficult World”, the change in tone, shows the duality and depth in Chris’ songwriting immediately as the title track critiques the current Country scene in the UK and where he believes he fits in, in a restrained, laser focused rage that is brilliantly written and delivered.
This 10 track album showcases Dover’s songwriting abilities in the styles that he loves while still making every song uniquely his. “The Hound” taps into that hypnotic Delta Blues style while “Jesus On The Wall” evokes the earnest 70’s Country songwriters that can paint a picture so perfectly that you can almost walk into the room he’s singing about.
“It’s a Difficult World” is a fearless declaration of intent and integrity by Chris Dover that he is here and this is only the beginning of his solo career. This album hits the highs and lows of the human condition wrapped in a wistful wit.
