Having spent a vast amount of time and money turning Bar Abbey round from it's grubby little past into a viable venue, our hosts Andy, Rob, John and all the crew have had the bar sold out from underneath them without any warning. As a result our last gig at the venue will be on FRIDAY 16 MAY.
Since learning of this just over a week ago, we have been scowering the city for a suitable venue to move to, but without luck. There have been many offers to host the club, for which we are most grateful, but we feel if we can't do it to 100% then its better to go out blazing than present our club half-cocked. Honey Bees will be presenting some small spin off gigs, namely rising blues star Half Deaf Clatch in June, our chill out sunday blues event on tramlines weekend,July, and american John Emill in September. Each of these will be held at the Hallamshire House, Commonside, Sheffield, and will be free entry.
In the meantime, our apologies go out sincerely to the artists whose gigs we have had to cancel. If and when a new venue is found, you will be contacted.
We thank all of the artists who have played and who, on the opening night, donated their performances for free in order to help us get started. We owe you.
We thank our crew, Simon, Richard, Zowie, Trent , the Timelord himself,Richard Gillett, and the bar abbey bunch who made everything go so smoothly.
I thank the Queen Bee for her love, support, dancing and burrito's...nothing could be done without you.
But most of all we thank all of you who attended, gave your support and made it such a vibrant night. Our love and respect to you all.
So... let's make the last one a night to remember, and what better way to rip it up than with the full on mashed up nu-blues duo that is the Death Rays of Ardilla and the dynamic blues rock of The Downtown Roots. FRIDAY 16 MAY. Expect some special guests and remember....Knock 3 times and say neccesity sent you !" class="aimg"> STOP PRESS - BAD NEWS RISIN' ! Just when you thought we could have a Blues Club....!<br />

Crosscut Saw hail from the Leeds delta and take no prisoners.
A Crosscut Saw gig is a hoodoo rollercoaster of pure primeval power. No hype, no image, no posturing, no deception, just true alchemy. No two performances are ever the same, even the musicians themselves don't know what potent brew will be cooked up. Nothing can be written to give an adequate impression

Tom Attah- The living bluesman. Blacker than the White Stripes - is a strong and soulful performer of new and original acoustic blues material, based in the UK.
Combining the raw power of Son House with the dense hypnotic rhythms of Howlin’ Wolf and the barrel-chested roar of the old blues shouters, Tom’s live shows take audiences on a journey from the Delta to the Download with 21st century intensity.
Traditional and Transitional, Tom is the modern, living bluesman. Taking the music from the past and carrying it into the future, Tom has stories to tell and songs to play. This is dance music, this is strong music, and this is The Living Bluesman.
